We’ll introduce you to a fantastic holiday home in Monda.
Which is the best way to build a team? We have the answer: to live experiences together and get to know Andalucia at first hand. There is nothing better than spending a couple of days with colleagues at one of the most charming holiday homes in Sierra de las Nieves. And if the owners are Paqui and Pepe, the satisfaction is guaranteed.
This coquettish holiday home in Monda sits within the natural environment of the natural park of Sierra de las Nieves, a region of Malaga, which has been declared Biosphere Reservoir by UNESCO. The holiday home is a 40-minute drive from Malaga city and less than 5 minutes from the closest town of Monda. However, if you prefer to take a walk, you can easily reach the town within 15 minutes.
This holiday home has been given the European Chart of Sustainable Tourism, and you won’t wonder why. Our team experience couldn’t have gone better, since the location itself invites you to relax, and the holiday home is both cosy and sustainable.
A tour around the holiday home
We got to the house on Saturday morning, and Paqui and Pepe made us feel at home. After a warm welcoming, the hosts showed their holiday home to us.
Under the covered porch, the views over the mountains are simply breathtaking. You will even find the typical rural Andalusian image: the olive trees. The porch welcomed a table full of jars and tools, with which we made jam and homemade soap through the ecological workshops offered by Paqui. The barbeque and the garden, filled with lemon and orange trees, added a special charm, while the sun rays invited us to take a dip into the private pool.
As soon as we crossed the entrance door, we knew that the interior lacked nothing.
On the ground floor, there is a huge dining-living room, with a big fireplace right in front of the main door. Undoubtedly, you can spot Paqui’s magical touch in every corner. It is worth knowing that this holiday home is also a CETS and Sierra de las Nieves natural park touristic information point. Therefore, it offers its guests many pamphlets and useful information about the area.
Fun fact: they own a book where bird lovers can take notes about the birds spotted in the area. This villa is also an excellent starting point for hikers since here they will come across infinite paths that start in its environs. If you prefer to relax and read a book, close to the fireplace, numerous books in different languages are waiting for you. And if you still don’t find the information you are looking for, you can always turn to Mr. Google, since the WiFi will give you the possibility to stay connected but in a dreamy environment.
The independent kitchen gives direct access to the garden, and you will find everything you need. Paqui and Pepe were so lovely that they provided us with water, bread and milk, in addition to some local products and dressed olives.
Lastly, on the ground floor, there also is a bathroom, with shower and towels for everyone. On the rear of the holiday home, you will find a narrow hallway that leads to the pool. In this hallway, you will find some tiles inserted in the wall, where you can keep bottles of wine during your stay.
Once we finished visiting the ground floor, we went upstairs to take a look at the bedrooms where we would spend the night. By then, curiosity was consuming us. On the first floor, there are three double bedrooms, two of which had a double bed and the other had two single beds. It is worth taking a look at the views from the huge windows. The sun rays that flood into the rooms make the presence of electric radiators go unnoticed. At the same time, the thick walls keep a pleasant freshness during summer days. Another bathroom with bathtub and a corner with a single bed complete the facilities provided.
Get down to work and pleasing to the palate!
As soon as we finished taking a look at the holiday home, we got out to start the ecological workshops that Paqui prepared for us. Following her advice and help, we prepared a delicious jam made from oranges from her garden, and we made homemade soap, whose sample we took home with us.
When the workshops ended, Pepe showed us his 30-year experience as a chef, by cooking a delicious barbeque that didn’t remain long on the table. We spent the afternoon chatting with the owners, surrounded by mouth-watering specialities and delicious wine. Once the night fell, we revelled in the warm of the fireplace.
And, as we would hope, we couldn’t help but enjoy a fantastic breakfast in the morning. Homemade jam and recently-picked-up oranges covered the whole table.
