Shopping centres in Malaga and Costa del Sol

The shopping centres in Malaga and those in Costa del Sol will provide you with everything you need to enjoy your holidays at best.

Malaga is the capital city of the Costa del Sol, and since it is a renowned tourist destination, it is provided with many shopping centres located both in the city and in the province. Below, you can find a list of the most famous and biggest ones, so that you won’t have any problems to make the most of your stay in Andalucia, regarding your shopping needs, too.

As a general rule, all the shopping centres in Andalucia can stay open a maximum of 8 Festive per year, except those located on very touristic areas, such as on the Coast. Every shopping centre can choose which days to stay open, according to their needs.

Those shopping centres that have different festive openings have their own list reported below.

1. Vialia centro comercial (Malaga)

Vialia shopping centre shares space with the train station Malaga-María Zambrano, and you will also be able to jump on the subway that will help you discover some hideouts of Malaga. You can go shopping before jumping on a train that will take you to the most picturesque towns of Spain, or as soon as you get off of one. It has more than 80 shops, among which Media Markt stands out, a supermarket (Mercadona), various restaurants and bars, and a huge cinema, with 13 different rooms.

You can reach it either by car, bus, subway or train, as well as on foot since it is located only a 10-minute walk from Malaga city centre. If you choose to come here by car, you will be able to leave it in the private parking, and if you spend more than €6, you won’t even have to pay for it for up to 2 hours. Moreover, if you want to enjoy a movie in the cinema of Vialia, 3 hours of free parking will be granted to you.

2. Larios Centro (Malaga)

You can find the Larios Centro near the train station Malaga-María Zambrano. It welcomes more than 100 shops and an Eroski supermarket, alongside two parking floors, where up to 1500 cars can be parked. The centre officially opened in 1996, and it offers many services you can’t miss out on. One of the most interesting is undoubtedly the Personal Shopper, which you can book at [email protected] and attend on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 6 pm to 8 pm.

3. El Corte Inglés (Malaga, Mijas and Marbella)

El Corte Inglés is one of, if not the, most famous shopping centre in Spain. Its history dates back to 1890 when a small tailor shop was founded in Madrid. The adventure of El Corte Inglés starts when a businessman bought it in 1935 and opened a second floor to be opened to the public. In June 1940, the enterprise “El Corte Inglés” is officially founded. It welcomes many marks of clothes, alongside a travel agency (Viajes El Corte Inglés), supermarkets (Hipercor, Supercor), a clothes mark of its own (Sfera), an optician’s shop (Optica 2000), and so on.

Malaga and its province welcome five El Corte Inglés shopping centres. Two of them are in Malaga city (Centro Comercial Málaga and Centro Comercial Bahía Málaga), one in Mijas (Centro Comercial Costa Mijas), and two in Marbella (Centro Comercial El Capricho and Centro Comercial Costa Marbella). The most central one is the two-building Centro Comercial Málaga, which also welcomes a free-access rooftop, where you can relish a Gourmet Experience.

El Corte Inglés Tourist Card
If you show your ID to prove that you are a tourist, you will be given an El Corte Inglés Tourist Card. Use it to go shopping in the whole centre (except for food items), and from the second purchase, you will be credited a 10% of the total on your Tourist Card. You can either cumulate it or use it on your next purchase. You can do so with as many purchases as you want, and use it all on your last purchase. But be careful, since it expires within one week.

4. Centro Comercial Rosaleda (Malaga)

The Rosaleda is located in the north-west part of Malaga, and it owns its name to an ancient cultivation of roses which used to be situated in the very same area. It opened in 1993, and nowadays it relies upon 120 shops, 12-room cinema, restaurants, bar and a supermarket (Carrefour), alongside a three-floor parking. It offers a free Personal Shopper service (Tuesdays, from 5 pm to 8 pm), which you’ll have to book online.

5. Plaza Mayor (Malaga)

The huge Plaza Mayor (literally, Main Place) welcomes every kind of shops, restaurants, and leisure areas reunited in a “town of shops”. Anything you need, you will find in Plaza Mayor. There, you will find terraces, bars which stay open til late, cinemas and a supermarket.

It is located 2 km far from the airport of Malaga – Costa del Sol, and very close to the main highway that connects the cities of the Coast with Malaga. You can reach it by train, specifically the C2 Cercanías – Plaza Mayor. Or else by bus, by jumping on Line 10 – Málaga/Churriana, Line M-136 – Cártama/Alhaurín de la Torre, or Line M-123 – Churriana/Torremolinos/Benalmádena. Lastly, you can also access Plaza Mayor by car: just take the A-7, and exit at Parador de Golf-Coín; or else, take the MA-21 and take the exit n. 2.

6. Centro Comercial Miramar (Fuengirola)

The huge shopping centre between Fuengirola and Mijas welcomes many shops, bars and restaurants, a 12-room cinema, a supermarket (Carrefour), a chill-out area, a go-kart area, and private parking. You can access to it by car (through the A-7, exit 208A), by bus (Line 1, 4 and 5 of the city bus of Fuengirola), and by train (C2 Cercanías towards Fuengirola + bus towards the Centro Comercial).

7. La Cañada Parque Comercial (Marbella)

More than 150 shops and restaurants, as well as a cinema, are located in this huge shopping centre in Marbella. It also offers a Personal Shopper service and private parking. You can easily reach La Cañada shopping centre either by car, by taking the AP-7 and take the exit 186 towards A-355 / Ojen / Marbella (Este), or by city bus (L1, L3, L6).

8. Centro Comercial El Ingenio (Torre del Mar)

The large shopping centre El Ingenio was inaugurated in 2000, and it welcomes 114 shops on two floors, as well as a 12-room cinema, a restaurant area, and a supermarket (Eroski). It will meet each and every one of your needs, extremely close to Malaga city centre.

9. Centro Comercial Rincón de la Victoria (Rincón de la Victoria)

You can reach the Centro Comercial Rincón de la Victoria by car, through the A-7 highway (exit 251) and the MA-24.

10. Centro Comercial La Verónica (Antequera)

This relatively new shopping centre was inaugurated in 2004, and it welcomes 64 shops, a supermarket (Eroski), a petrol station, a 1400-place parking and an 8-room cinema. The shopping centre is in the north-west of Antequera, and it can be reached either by bus (from two different points of the city) or by car (on the A-343).

  • Supermarket and Petrol Station: Mo-Sat and Bank holidays: 9 am – 10 pm

11. Centro Comercial La Trocha (Coín)

The 42-shop centro comercial La Trocha is committed to the preservation of the environment since it is located at the foot of the Natural Park Sierra de las Nieves. It offers countless services, among which a private parking, Malaga Football Club ticket office, a children park and a 7-room cinema. You can reach the centre by car, since it is located on the motorway that connects Coín with Cártama, at km. 1.

  • Shops and supermarkets: Mo-Sat and Bank holidays: 10 am – 10 pm
  • Restaurants: all week: 12 pm – closing
  • Cinema: Tue-Sun: 5 pm – 1 am
